About Leon Myerson's “Star Trek Technology”
This s a dusty old text file that I must
have downloaded from CompuServe circa 1988.
The essay explains
why, in original Star Trek, ships sometimes hit
warp 13 or something like that, whereas in Start Trek: TNG,
the ships are somehow faster even though their usual
maximum warp
speeds are numbered 8 and 9. I don't know
how official this is, but it makes sense (within
the fictional Star Trek world, of course), & it's
an entertaining read.

Thanks to Tom Del Rosso for supplying me with the complete file. The version of the file here was probably downloaded from a BBS in 1991. It is more complete than the version I posted here before 2006 March.
